Nicolás Montalbán Martínez

Nicolás Montalbán obtained a PhD in English Philology from the University of Murcia, and a Master in English for Specific Purposes from the Open University (UNED). He is currently a Ph.D. Assistant Professor at the Centro Universitario de la Defensa (San Javier, Murcia), teaching ESP as well as general English language. Before, he was a lecturer at the University of Murcia (Translation and Interpreting Department), where he was mainly devoted to the areas of English for Tourism, Geography and Law. His current main fields of research are English for Specific Purposes, where he has carried out a Sectorial Study on English Language Training and Qualification to access employment in the professional branch of Chemistry, and diagnostic tests for the key competences in English language (levels 2 and 3) for the Regional Service for Employment and Training. He has taught English and worked as a teacher trainer for more twenty years, specifically in ESP (English for Chemistry, Quality Control and Engineering) for the National Reference Centre for Chemistry of Cartagena, where he has been working in European Training Projects, as well as in the translation of the Didactic Guides and Study Manuals of Non-Destructive Testing. He has also worked for private companies related to international maritime trade.
